What You Should Know About Astrology

Why is this happening? How long will my current situation last? What can I do to maximize this winning streak?  These are questions everyone has at some point, and it is an astrologer’s job to use their skills to try to answer these questions. Aristotle, Socrates, Hippocrates, Pythagoras….all of these renowned gentleman were well versed in astrology, and we still use the same principles that can be traced back at least 7,000 years.  If you add to this track record today’s modern technology ( no more hunched over charts by candle light doing advanced mathematics for hours on end; we can use programs that give us the mathematical data we need instantly) there are no limits as to what astrology can do for us.

Each heavenly body has its own energy and the way that they interact with each other influences, though does not necessarily dictate, situations here on our Earth. The transiting planets, satellites (moons), stars (Sun) and even asteroids combine their energies constantly depending on their orbit speed and positions.  In some cases our perception of the planets from here on Earth are enough to  affect our energy, as in the case of retrograde planets, which appear to move backwards from our vantage point, though it is not truly the case.

The transits and our view of them affect our natal chart, which is an exact map of the sky at the moment of our birth these are our “karmic” circumstances and explain a lot about our personalities, personal gifts and specific challenges. When the transiting planets make “aspects” to our points and planets we are in for a change in energy which can be positive, negative or neutral. We are not fated to any particular outcome, but are definitely bound to have to deal with certain situations and limitations that are indicated by our birth charts. How we handle these issues (free will) will dictate the outcome of the planetary energy. An astrologer can predict these energies and will also look into what actions you can take to counteract negativity and elevate the positive facets of any situation.

Astrology is not actually a divinatory art, but an actual science, that has only been questioned, or seen as an activity for entertainment purposes for the last century or so.  Of course, there are many astrologers who have an extra edge such as psychic or intuitive gifts that can add to their predictions and advisements, but a gift for pattern recognition, personal experience, and a well-rounded education in astrology are all that are required to qualify someone to delineate natal, transit, and relationship charts.

As a practicing astrologer, my clients are from all walks of life, but no one will ever know who they are as their privacy is of the utmost importance.  What is said between an advisor and a client is absolutely confidential. It is fine for someone to talk about their readings and their perceptions of their personal astrologer, but never the other way around. Trust in a practitioner’s discretion is just as important as confidence in their abilities to a client.  If you are considering a reading it may be in our best interest to avoid someone that boasts about their client list, just as you may want to avoid anyone that makes outrageous promises that they can solve “all’ of your problems.
